The world we live in is a world of testing. Muslims are tested through various means and instruments. The separation of sects from Ahl al-Sunnah wa'l-Jama'ah is also a means of testing. Indeed, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:The Children of Israel split into seventy-two sects. My community will split into seventy-three sects. Except for one, all of them will go to Hell." he says. When the Noble Companions asked, "Which is that exceptional group, O Messenger of Allah?", our Prophet (pbuh) said: "It is the community that follows my path and the path of my Companions."He gave the good news." (96)

In light of this hadith, the subject of our lesson, let us endeavor to answer the questions, "How did the Ahl al-Sunnah come into being? Why did they choose the name Ahl al-Sunnah? What is the reason for the others being called Ahl al-Bid'ah?" Those who interpreted the ambiguous and concise verses of God's book with abstract reason and who were driven by political ambitions emerged during the caliphate of Abu Bakr (ra). After the martyrdom of Uthman (ra), discord increased dramatically, and the philosophical theories of non-Muslims came to the fore. The tragic martyrdom of Hussein (ra) in Karbala increased the scope of the debate. Theological sects are also linked to political ambitions. Süleyman Karagülle, regarding this issue,‘The first division arose from the tendency to not accept a head of state. There were those who said, "We accept the book, but the Prophet is dead, what need is there for a caliph?" However, the Companions agreed on a caliph. Thus, those who did not accept a head of state were called "People of Misguidance." Those who gathered under the leadership of Hazrat Abu Bakr (ra) were called "AHL-1 SUNNAH VE'L COMMUNITY" It has been said (..). Even though the term "Ahl al-Sunnah wa'l Jama'ah" is not used in the Qur'an, it has the same meaning as "Rebelling against the Messenger Mu'straying from the path of thousands" (97) The expression "Ahl al-Sunnah wa'l Jama'ah" is used in the Qur'an and most clearly describes "Ahl al-Sunnah wa'l Jama'ah".

In literature, it can be found in Hadith books. All Muslims agreed on the caliphate of Abu Bakr (ra). Thus, IJMA‘ It has been realized. Therefore, those who follow the path of the Companions and Tabi'in are called "Ahl al-Sunnah wa'l-Jama'ah". Those who oppose them with the Islah on the issues on which the Companions agreed are called FIRQA al-DALLA." (98) "When the Qadariyya, Jahmiyah and Shia first appeared in the first century of the Hijri era, and then the Mu'tazila emerged, and the disagreements within the society and the discussions on issues that were not discussed such as Allah's attributes, fate and destiny started, those who opposed them called themselves AHL al-Sunnah wa'l-Jama'ah, referring to the hadiths (regarding the sects)." (99)

Regarding our topic, our teacher Yusuf Kerimoğlu said: "The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) encouraged the Companions to perform 'Ijtihad' while he was still alive. After the death of the Messenger of Allah (pbuh), differences of ijtihad arose among the Companions. Some circles used this as an excuse to‘some of them 'swearing'' They started to accuse. As it is known, Shia'The claim of the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) is that "Hz. Ali (ra) was appointed as the caliph by Allah Almighty (cc) through revelation"Ghadir Khumm" he also conveyed this message." The Shia sect, by interpreting some hadiths, claims that the Companions of the Noble Prophet usurped the right of caliphate of Hazrat Ali (ra) (and rejected the definitive text on this matter). In addition, there were those who accused the Noble Prophet of apostasy by using Ghadir-i Khumm as an excuse. Hazrat Ali (ra) said, "appointed caliph by revelation" The claim is certainly not consistent. Because this claim will destroy this sect in the first place. Because it is proven with definitive evidence that Hz. Ali (ra) gave allegiance to Hz. Abu Bakr (ra) and the other caliphs. In this case, Hz. Ali (ra) also said, "Ghadir KhummIt is possible to say that he rejected the fact that "Ali (ra) rejected the fact that he ...

Furthermore, the Kharijites, hiding behind the slogan "Judgment belongs only to Allah Almighty" and accusing Ali (ra) of being an apostate because he appointed an arbitrator, are clearly injustices. Within this historical framework, there is a group that says, "We remember all the Companions with goodwill. We never speak against them." This is the Ahl al-Sunnah. Throughout history, the Ahl al-Sunnah wa'l-Jama'ah constituted the overwhelming majority. Today, the overwhelming majority of believers who continue the struggle for "Tawhid" are the Ahl al-Sunnah. (100)

A.Yılmaz Hoca said: “The name Ahl-i Sunnah was taken by Hz. Omar (ra), ““ADVANCE THE SUNNAH AGAINST THE PERVERSAT. BECAUSE THE QUR'AN IS SUITABLE FOR MULTIPLE INTERPRETATIONS AND COMMENTARY. YOU CANNOT BIND THEMSELVES WITH ITS VERSE. BE PEOPLE OF THE SUNNAH.” "It may have originated from the understanding of the religion." (101) Our teacher Mehmed Çağlayan said: "The reason for the emergence of the Ahl-i Sunnah wal Jama'ah is this; These names were born when the deviant sects that emerged by mixing philosophy with religion tried to corrupt the pure and honest faith that the Book, the Sunnah and the Companions gave to the Muslims. Those who follow the enlightened path of the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) and his Companions (ra)AHL-SUNNA WA'L JAMA'AT) was said. (102) Later, "Why was the term 'Ahl-i Sunnah' needed? While there was a president who did not recognize the institution of the presidency or to whom allegiance was paid, even if he was illegitimate, there were those who considered rebellion against him legitimate." ICMAIThere were those who did not accept it, those who either did not accept ijtihad or those who tried to determine the issues of faith (theology) with ijtihad, and they were called FIRKA-I DALLE, and in return, the community that remained steadfast on the true Islam was called AHL-I SUNNAT WA'L JAMA'AT.” (103)

Again, our teacher, Yusuf Kerimoğlu, said: “In the political struggles that arose as a result of ijtihadi differences, sects emerged that accused each other of blasphemy. During the Umayyad period (all of whom were tyrannical kings), while they cursed Ali in sermons, another group clung to absurd claims about Ali (ra), such as, “God forbid, he is a god,” or “Gabriel (pbuh) made a mistake, Ali is the true Prophet” (which is the belief of the Gurabiyya sect of the Shia). In this context, it is understandable why the term Ahl al-Sunnah was needed.” (104)) In fact, the term "Ahl al-Sunnah" was no longer needed. The necessity of being a follower of the Sunnah arose. The need for Islam to be represented, organized, preached, defended, delivered, and implemented under such a name and as a group became necessary.Ahl al-SunnahThe framework drawn with the expression "Sunnah" does not go beyond the Book and the Sunnah... Indeed, every false sect and disposition has gained supporters by claiming to be based on a verse. However, the "Sunnah" is limited. It is impossible to find a way to avoid it. Furthermore, knowing the "Sunnah" and being worthy of it "requires not going beyond the Quran." (105)

It is clear from the above statements that the term "Ahl al-Sunnah," or more accurately, "Aqa'id," did not emerge out of thin air. It was not coined for pleasure. At a time when various deviant sects were rampant and wreaking havoc, attacking the glorious religion of Islam, destroying the Sunnah, and blasphemy against the Companions of the Prophet (PBUH) rampant, the Ahl al-Sunnah strived to neutralize the views and opinions of those who merely followed their egoistic desires and to help believers see and accept the truth. And in the most beautiful way, without going to extremes or understatements. One of the characteristics of heretical sects is their declaring one another atheist. The Ahl al-Sunnah creed has no room for self-interest, profit, interpretation, desire, or whim. Imam Azam Abu Hanifa (may Allah have mercy on him): "One of the good things about the Ahl al-Sunnah is that when someone makes a mistake, they do not attribute it to disbelief. One of the bad things about the Ahl al-Bid'ah is that when someone makes a mistake, they attribute it to disbelief." (106) He pointed out an important point by saying that the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: “Whoever prays as we pray, turns towards our qiblah, and eats what we slaughter, that is the Muslim who is under the protection of Allah and His Messenger. Do not break the protection of Allah."Ahl as-Sunnah scholars, who take the hadith as a basis, have split hairs on the issue of takfir.

The Ahl al-Bid'ah, on the other hand, are a group that likes to classify people according to their whims. This understanding, which considers anyone who does not belong to their own party (sect) as a disbeliever, is seen to be favored by some circles today. The mujtahid imams of the Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah adopted the principle that "There is no room for ijtihad in the Mawrid al-Nass," and submitted unconditionally and unreservedly to the Book of Allah (swt) and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (pbuh). In matters for which there is no definitive nass, the "Ijma' al-Ummah and Qiyas al-Fuqaha" are taken as basis. The Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah's "BeliefAll the rulings in his books encompass both the truth and the response to one of the Ahl al-Bid'ah sects. Every person who desires happiness in this world and the hereafter must thoroughly learn the creed of Ahl al-Sunnah wa'l-Jama'ah. Those who stray from the path of the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) and the Rightly Guided Caliphs are doomed to disappointment both in this world and the hereafter. Nizamuddin Demir

Ehl-i Sünnet Ve’l Cemaat ‘i n tarifi ile ilgili alıntılarımızı ortaya koyduktan sonra bir noktaya işaret etmekte fayda vardır. İçinde yaşadığımız alem imtihan alemidir.
