Meccan Verses

The Quran's emergence from the unseen world into this world is called revelation; the first place of this revelation was the heart of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The surahs revealed before the Prophet's migration are called Meccan, while those revealed afterward are called Medinan. Furthermore, those revealed in Mecca and elsewhere after the migration are also called Medinan.
