My teacher, peace be upon you. Today, the Directorate of Religious Affairs issued a statement. ” Directorate of Religious Affairs: “You can buy a sacrifice with a credit card. However, if the debt is not paid on the due date and interest is deducted from the delay, the sacrifice is not valid.” I am curious about your thoughts on this subject. Best regards..

And peace be upon you, brothers and sisters!!! We have expressed the following regarding this issue in our work titled “Epistle of Sacrifice”: “When counting the people for whom it is obligatory to perform an animal sacrifice, the condition of wealth called “NISAB” is mentioned in the books of Islamic jurisprudence. If the person buying the animal for sacrifice is rich, it is a bit thought-provoking that he falls into such a ridiculous situation as “Buying an Animal for Sacrifice on Installments”!… If performing an animal sacrifice is obligatory for a rich Muslim, then what kind of wealth is this that he does not have the money to buy a sacrificial animal?
Buying Sacrificial Animals with a Credit Card: We also stated the following on this topic: "I can't provide a source on this matter. Credit cards are very recent. It's too early to consider such concepts appearing in our sources. The key to any purchase is ensuring there are no flaws in the transaction. If the purchase and sale are legitimate and permissible, there's no problem. However, it's worth noting that using a credit card is not without its drawbacks in any case. While not direct, there are indirect drawbacks. Cardholders are also indirectly responsible for the mistakes made by sellers. Simply put, they are being carried around in their pockets with peace of mind (at interest) even though there's no legitimate need for it." (Nizameddin Demir, Kurban Risalesi, pp. 85-86)
The Directorate of Religious Affairs' stance that "Sacrifice can be purchased with a credit card..." is incorrect. As they explain, if credit card debt is not paid on time and becomes an interest-bearing transaction, the consequences will be even more severe. This applies not only to purchases of sacrificial animals, but to all matters.
