ATTRIBUTES OF THE PROPHETS
Those to whom Allah Almighty revealed; are distinguished from other people by certain attributes. Of course, the prophets, since they are human; eat, drink, become healthy and sick, marry. Old age and death befall them. However, due to the weight of the duty of the Prophethood, they have certain superior attributes. Let us now briefly dwell on these attributes.
SIDK (Accuracy):
Prophets always tell the truth in every matter and no lie ever comes from them. As it is known, the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) was known for his truthfulness even before the revelation came to him. Everyone called him "Muhammadu'l-Amin". Even Abu Jahl, who was known for his hostility towards Islam, said to the Messenger of Allah (pbuh), "We do not call you a liar. Because we all know how trustworthy and faithful you are. We only deny the verses of Allah."[3] He said. In fact, in the Holy Quran: "(My Beloved) We know very well that what they say must be troubling you. They do not deny you, but the wrongdoers knowingly deny the verses of Allah."[4] It has been stated. In fact, the Byzantine King Heraclius asked Abu Sufyan ibn Harb: "- Before you said what you said (the case of Prophethood), did you ever accuse him of lying or accusing him?" Abu Sufyan ibn Harb replied: "- No."[5] If you pay attention; Abu Jahl and Abu Sufyan were the most prominent figures of Mecca at that time. In fact, all prophets were people who were known for their truthfulness in their circles even before their duty of conveying the message. When a group of Meccan polytheists claimed that the Holy Quran was fabricated by the Prophet (pbuh), Allah Almighty (cc) said: "If the Prophet had fabricated some words against us, We would have taken away his right hand (power and strength) and then We would have cut off his veins. Then none of you would have been able to prevent it. It is a definite admonition for the righteous."[6] God has declared His judgment. Therefore, all prophets are under divine supervision and are faithful in every matter.
DEPOSIT:
The prophets are trustworthy. They are worthy of all kinds of trust in both religion and worldly matters. They conveyed the commands and prohibitions of Allah without any excess or deficiency. In the Holy Quran: "They (the prophets) are those who convey the message of Allah, who fear Him, who fear no one but Allah. Allah is sufficient as a judge."[7] It has been stated. It is never, ever possible for prophets to betray or conceal the revelation. The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: "There is nothing that Allah Almighty (swt) has ordered that I have not ordered you to do. There is nothing that Allah Almighty (swt) has warned you against that I have not warned you about."[8] He declares the importance of the issue by saying:
FETANET:
Prophets are people who are intelligent, wise and have strong opinions. They are free from any deficiency of reason, stupidity or any illness that may impair their ability to comprehend.[9] Because; they have been assigned to eliminate all the claims of the taghuti powers who, by their own desires and whims, attempt to rebel against Allah Almighty (swt). This is essential for the proper conveyance of the revelation. As a matter of fact, there are many verses in the Holy Quran that indicate this: “Have you not seen the one who disputed with Abraham about his Lord because Allah had given him the kingdom? When Abraham said, “My Lord gives life and causes death,” he (Nimrod) said, “I give life and cause death.” Abraham said, “Allah brings the sun from the east, so bring it from the west,” so the disbeliever was left bewildered. Allah does not succeed the wrongdoing people.”[10]
ISMET:
Prophets are innocent. They are protected from disbelief and polytheism, both before and after the revelation comes to them. There is no question of them committing any sin.[11] Imam-i Maturidi (may Allah have mercy on him) said from the Holy Quran: "They will surely cause you to fall into temptation, knowingly, so that you may fabricate something other than what We have revealed to you, and slander us. In that case, they would have taken you as a friend."[12] By quoting the verse, he states that Allah Almighty did not allow even the slightest act of disobedience to the Messenger of Allah (pbuh).[13] The majority of Islamic scholars agree that the word "zenb" attributed to prophets in the Holy Quran does not mean sin.[14] Because "Zenb" is a sin committed intentionally or involuntarily. Prophets were protected from this by the grace of Allah Almighty (swt). "Zelle" does not mean sin either.
NOTIFICATION:
Prophets are responsible for conveying all the commands and prohibitions of Allah Almighty, without making any distinction between people (rich, poor, black, white etc.). In the Holy Quran: "And He does not speak from His own desires. It (the Quran and His commands regarding religion) is nothing but a revelation that has been sent down."[15] It has been stated. As it can be understood from the "Stories" in the Holy Quran; the prophets have endured all kinds of hardships in conveying the message. Because the purpose of conveying the commands and prohibitions of Allah Almighty (cc) to the people with definitive proofs and to prevent them from making excuses on the Day of Judgement such as "We were not aware of this". In fact, it is stated in the Holy Quran: "We do not punish until We send a messenger"[16] It is stated in another verse: "Your Lord will not destroy a city until He raises a messenger to the capitals of the cities to recite Our verses to them, and We will not destroy any city except the people who are wrongdoers."[17] The verdict has been declared.
In the Holy Quran: "We have given to some of them more virtues than others. Allah has spoken to one of them and raised one of them to many degrees. We gave Jesus, the son of Mary, those signs and supported him with the Holy Spirit. If Allah had willed, the nations behind them would not have killed each other after the clear proofs had come to them. But they differed. So some of them believed and some disbelieved."[18] It is stated. Imam-i Maturidi (may Allah have mercy on him) explains the ruling in this verse, "We gave some of them higher qualities than others", with the importance and scope of the duties of the prophets. While some were sent as prophets to all of the humans and jinn, some were sent only to their own people or to a certain group.[19] It is also established by definite texts that the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) was "sent as a mercy to all the worlds". Based on the rulings on this issue, Fakhruddin Razi records that the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) is the most superior and that ijma has been formed on this issue.[20] It is certain that believers believe in all prophets with certainty.
A person who confirms with his heart and confesses with his tongue that Allah Almighty sent prophets, but still denies some of the prophets, is a disbeliever.[21] For this reason, just as the Jews who accepted the prophets sent since Hz. Adam (pbuh) but did not accept Hz. Jesus (pbuh) and the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) as prophets, fell into disbelief, so did the Christians who denied the prophethood of the Messenger of Allah (pbuh).
Prophet means “messenger and messenger” in Persian. As a religious term, “the messenger chosen by Allah from among his servants and honored with revelation and assigned to convey His commands and prohibitions to people” is called a prophet. In Arabic, the words “resul” and “mursal”, which mean sent and messenger, are used as the equivalent of the word “prophet”. As a term, “resul” and “mursal” are used to refer to a prophet sent to people with a new book and a new law. Its plurals are “rusul” and “mursalun”. Nebi is the prophet who informs people about Allah’s commands and prohibitions, but is not sent with a new book and a new law, but is tasked with informing his ummah about the book and law of a previous prophet. Its plural is “enbiya”. The words “risalah” and “nubuvvet” are infinitives and mean prophethood.
“Messenger” and “Nabi” Let us briefly dwell on the words. "Er Rasul" is a hyperbole. It means being sent many times or being a messenger and meeting many times because his mission was prolonged. Messenger means waiting for and receiving continuous news from the one who sent him. "Nabi" is derived from the root "An-Naba" which means news. It means the one who informs. In Islamic interpretation; the definition "the person to whom Allahu ta'ala (swt) reveals the message and appoints him to convey the message is called a nabi" is taken as basis. There is no difference between a messenger and a nabi in terms of being the addressee of Allahu ta'ala's revelation. However, the important difference is as follows: Messenger; He is the one to whom Allah Almighty has appointed the person to convey the message and to whom He has given a book and a new law. The "Nabi" is the one who informs people about what Allah Almighty has revealed to him, but who acts according to the law of a Messenger before him and explains it to people. Special news is also revealed to him on certain subjects.
